HOW IT WORKS

1
Add URLs

Enter one or more URLs in the input field. Use multiple URLs to cover different sections of a documentation site.

2
Set a Page Limit

Start with 50-100 pages. Large documentation sites can have thousands of pages, so setting a limit prevents excessive saves.

3
Click Start

Watch progress in real-time. Close the popup if you want—saving continues in the background while you browse.

4
Export Your Content

Go to the Jobs tab, click a job, and export as Markdown, plain text, or ZIP archive. Copy to clipboard or download files.

FEATURES

Save Multiple Pages

Enter a URL and Webscribe automatically discovers and saves all linked pages. Works in the background—close the popup and it keeps working.

100% Private & Local

Everything runs in your browser. Your saved content never leaves your device—no accounts, no cloud, no tracking.

JavaScript Site Support

Fully renders modern JavaScript-based websites (React, Vue, Angular docs) before saving, ensuring you get the complete content.

Clean Markdown Output

Automatically removes ads, navigation, and clutter. Get beautifully formatted markdown ready for AI assistants or offline reading.

MORE FEATURES

Content Picker Mode

Need just one section? Click on any page element to save it. Perfect for grabbing specific code examples or articles.

Flexible Export Options

Export as Markdown (.md), plain text (.txt), or HTML. Copy to clipboard or download as ZIP archives for multiple pages.

Search & Organize

Search across all saved content by URL. Filter, browse, and bulk delete. Everything organized by save job.

Configurable Settings

Set page limits, configure concurrent workers (1-10 tabs), add multiple input URLs, and force refresh cached pages.

Important Limitations

Path-Based Scope
Saving is limited to the URL path you enter. To save /docs and /tutorials, add them as separate URLs.
Set Page Limits
Without a limit, Webscribe may attempt thousands of pages on large sites. Always start with 50-100 pages.
JavaScript Complexity
Some very complex JavaScript sites may not render perfectly. Most documentation sites work great.
Browser Storage Limits
Browser storage has limits that vary by system. Delete old jobs you no longer need to free up space.

Best Practices

1
Set page limits
Start with 50-100 pages. Large sites can have thousands of pages.
2
Use multiple URLs
Add each section (/docs, /api, /guides) as a separate URL for better coverage.
3
Verify results
Check saved content for completeness. Some JavaScript-heavy pages may need adjustments.
4
Manage storage
Delete old jobs you no longer need to free up browser storage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Webscribe really free?

Yes, completely free! No hidden fees, no premium tiers, no limits on usage. It's a tool we built for ourselves and wanted to share.

Is my content private?

Absolutely. All processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing is ever sent to our servers. We have no access to your saved content.

Why does Webscribe need certain browser permissions?

Each permission serves a specific purpose: storage for saving locally, tabs for rendering JavaScript pages, and scripting for reading page content. See our Privacy Policy for detailed explanations.

Can I use saved content with AI assistants?

Yes! That's one of the main use cases. Export documentation as markdown and feed it to Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or any AI coding assistant.

What if a page doesn't save correctly?

Some very complex JavaScript sites may not render perfectly. Try increasing the wait time or using fewer concurrent tabs. Most documentation sites work great.
